Not technically IN Kikugawa, but close...the first is from a drive we took to Kawatana, about 20 minutes away. Liked the clouds passing over the sakura. The other 2 shots are from the car window as we drove through a park surrounding a just up the valley from Kikugawa...loads of sakura in bloom, and too many people visiting to park. The downside of sakura are that they only stay in bloom a few days.

Farmers

Seen here from my second floor (first floor for you Brits), the neighboring field. These people may be old, but they are tough as nails and probably as strong as any of us half their age.

I live in Kikugawa

I've been living in Shimonoseki, Japan for the last 4 1/2 years. It's been good, but for budgetary reasons my wife, daughter and I are moving to a much smaller town that's technically within Shimonoseki even though it's about a half hour away.

It's called Kikugawa (translated as Chrysanthemum River after, well, the Chrysanthemum River that runs through it.) I wish I could say it's as beautiful as its name, but it does have its points. I intend to show you some of them. I'm going to take a picture, hopefully everyday, and post it here. They may be boring or beautiful or ugly or exciting...hopefully a few of them will be good.

I'll start after we get there.
